New Delhi (India), January 21: Be the Change You Wish to See in the World’ – these words resonate with Amitabh Shah, who started the India-based NGO – YUVA Unstoppable in 2005 at the mere age of 23. Touched by the stories he came across each day, he was inspired to act as a catalyst in the development, improvement and growth of society.
His journey made him realize that in spite of the pain and hardships faced by several, there is a lot of goodness in the world, and everyone wants to help but may not know how to go about doing so. With this background in mind, Amitabh started YUVA Unstoppable, India’s premier youth movement organization. “The younger generation has the force to propel society into further growth and development. Education holds the highest priority in India’s development mission, and that’s exactly why we at Yuva Unstoppable started our scholarship program. To provide this precious resource with the necessary opportunities to expand and grow” – Amitabh Shah, Founder – of Yuva Unstoppable. Yuva Unstoppable’sscholarship program aims to transform the lives of less privileged children and youth by maximizing impact in the education sector by focusing on the fundamentals – providing opportunities for the development of youth. The program aims to give wings to the dreams of youth by providing long-term scholarships, coaching and mentoring. Deserving and needy students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are selected based on merit, performance and need to enable them to pursue a career of their choice. This program has led to breaking all stereotypes by educating and empowering girls from remote communities and striving to take collective action for equality in education.
Kanchi Mehta is one such example of a confident young girl who is not only a Yuva Unstoppable scholar but an upcoming physiotherapist and a proud COVID frontline warrior who strived to provide medical services during the difficult times of the pandemic. At the mere age of 20 years, Kanchi, with full support from her family and Yuva Unstoppable, served as a COVID warrior in some difficult areas of Ahmedabad, making her one of the recipients of the ‘Sponsor A Tablet’ campaign of Yuva Unstoppable. Kanchi has always been a very resilient Girl, and in spite of all the challenges that came her way, she always stood up as a fighter. When she started her 12th grade, her father met with an accident in which his ligament was broken, and after that, he was not able to work for 2-3 months.
The only passive source of income for her family stopped coming, and it became tough for kanchi to continue her studies, but the financial aid that she received from Yuva unstoppable helped her In continuing her studies and with sheer determination and hard work, she cleared her 12th board with flying colours. The challenges for kanchi’s family didn’t stop there; when she was in her first year of college Covid happened, her father’s wages were reduced; he received only 20% of his monthly wages, as witnessed by most middle-class families in our country family faced a lot of financial crises. It was not possible for her father to take care of a family of 4 with that small income. Yuva unstoppable was Consistently working on the grassroots during the entire Covid period, Kanchi approached Yuva Unstoppable, and during Covid, her family was provided with a free ration that gave them a lot of relief in those difficult times.
In Covid, she came out as a star and served as a front-line worker just at the age of 20 years. She became an Inspiration for all the other Scholarship Students of Yuva and showed everyone how with belief in oneself, one can do wonders despite going through a million struggles and challenges. Starting her journey with Yuva Unstoppable 6 years back, Today Kanchi stands as a Strong and Independent girl who can support herself and her family and can inspire many other girls like her to achieve their goals. “My interest in physiotherapy came from the time when I saw for myself what the visiting physiotherapist did for my father after he had an injury. The physiotherapist is the reason my father is able to walk freely again, and I want to do the same for others,” says Kanchi. A meritorious candidate with a 98% in Std. X and a 9th Gujarat University rank in her final year of Physiotherapy, Kanchi hopes to enrol in a Master’s program in Physiotherapy while working part-time as a physiotherapist to gain further experience. “We at Yuva Unstoppable saw that spark in Kanchi right away; her confidence and positive personality is infectious. She will be a great mentor to other students who will aspire to be like her,” says Amitabh Shah. The scheme not only provides financial support but also concentrates on the students’ overall development by facilitating mentorship sessions, counselling sessions, peer networking engagement opportunities and expert leadership lectures.
Kanchi gives credit to the counselling and mentoring sessions organized by Yuva Unstoppable as a reason for her improvement in English speaking. Hailing from a Gujarati medium education, Kanchi felt the sessions gave her the confidence to speak fluently in English and present herself professionally in college and at interviews. Kanchi signs off with a very important message for all “Do not dwell on your problems; only focus on the opportunities and positives that life has provided to you. Yuva Unstoppable and Amitabh Sha have been angels in my life, and I fear nothing since I have confidence and self-belief, and Yuva Unstoppable is with me all the way”. Yuva Unstoppable is an India & US registered leading NGO founded in 2006 by a group of zealous individuals led by Amitabh Shah with a mission to empower children and youth through various initiatives.
