Kochi (Kerala) [India], January 12: The Federal Bank Kochi Marathon road show has commenced. Prachi Tehlan, Popular Actress and former Indian basketball player and captain of the Indian National Netball team, along with T.S. Mohanadas, the Vice President and Regional Head of Federal Bank, jointly flagged off the event held at St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam.
The second edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which is conducted in the leadership of cleosportz, aimed at improving public health and physical fitness, is scheduled for February 11th, 2024. This event has been organized with long-term goals, including positioning Kochi as a sports tourism hub and promoting ideas such as a clean, green, and safe Kochi. The marathon comprises five categories: a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10-k, a 3k green run, and a special category catering to differently-abled individuals. The prize money for the events has been increased from ten lakhs to fifteen lakhs.
The flag-off event witnessed the participation of several renowned personalities, including film star Niyas, Dr. Alphonsa Vijay Joseph (the Principal of St. Teresa’s College), Dr. Praveen Pai, owners of Cleo Sports Byju Paul, Anish Paul, Sabari Nair, as well as stars from the movie “Qalb” such as Ranjith Sajeev, Ambi, Karthik Shankar, and Athira Patel. The road show will travel across Kerala and engage with fitness conscious individuals to promote a healthy and fit Kerala, Additional, several sports and recreational programmes will be conducted.
A distinct category has been added for individuals with physical disabilities and those requiring special attention. The event is conducted in collaboration with Raksha Society, an organization dedicated to addressing the concerns of children and youth with neurological disabilities.
